In The Community

As a privately held, family owned company, ECM TRANSPORT understands how important a role the community plays in the lives of our employees as well as the general public.  This is why at ECM TRANSPORT we feel it is important to give back to the communities in which we reside and work.  ECM TRANSPORT does this every year by donating resources as well as having employees donate their time to many worthy causes.  ECM TRANSPORT also feels it is important to do their part in helping the environment therefore our organization is involved with various green initiatives to accomplish this mission.

The following is a list of charity and non-profit organizations ECM TRANSPORT supports:

STOREHOUSE for Teachers This nonprofit organization provides critically needed classroom supplies at no cost for teachers and students in local, underprivileged communities.  ECM TRANSPORT donates our trucks to the transportation of goods from corporations to the STOREHOUSE for Teacher’s resource center.  For more information on the STOREHOUSE for Teachers visit www.storehouseforteachers.org.

Toys for Tots
Every December, ECM TRANSPORT employees collect gifts for the United States Marine Core’s Toys for Tots program.  The Toys for Tots program collects new, unwrapped toys to distribute as Christmas gifts for needy children in the local community.  To learn more about the USMC’s Toys for Tots program, visit www.toysfortots.org.

The AMBER Alert Program
The AMBER Alert Program, named for 9-year-old Amber Hagerman, is a voluntary partnership between law-enforcement agencies, broadcasters, and transportation agencies to activate an urgent bulletin in the most serious child-abduction cases. Broadcasters use the Emergency Alert System to air a description of the abducted child and suspected abductor. The goal of an AMBER Alert is to instantly galvanize the entire community to assist in the search for and safe recovery of the child. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, more than 260,000 children are abducted every year, and it's the first few hours that are critical to the safe recovery of these young victims. This is where the trucking industry is uniquely poised to lend a hand.  By using Qualcomm's mobile technologies and location-based services and participating in the AMBER Alert Highway Network, ECM TRANSPORT drivers receive notification of the AMBER Alerts which allows them to assist in the search.  For more information on The Amber Alert Program visit http://www.missingkids.com.

Smart-Way Carrier In 2005, ECM TRANSPORT became a Smartway Carrier.  This means that ECM TRANSPORT is collaborating with United States government to reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, improve fuel efficiency, and strengthen the freight sector.  For more information on the Smartway transportation program visit www.epa.gov.
